Sixth Form

The Sixth Form at The Tiffin Girls’ School offers an exceptional educational experience which prepares students to achieve highly in both their A-Levels and future life at university while participating fully in and contributing to the world around them.

Sixth Form students have many opportunities to enrich their educational and social experience over their two years with us, and many participate in charity and not-for-profit enterprises. They compete at national level in the Young Enterprise Company Programme (UK runners-up 2021), achieve the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme Silver and Gold awards, take part in Model United Nations debating and many more clubs and societies, full details of which can be found here. Many of our societies are run by Sixth Formers, and student leadership is actively encouraged. Many Sixth Formers hold positions of responsibility as student leaders, prefects, subject associates and mentors for younger students in the school. Find out more about Sixth Form Admissions.

Student Destinations

Our students’ higher education destinations are truly impressive, with 20 students gaining a place at either Oxford or Cambridge universities in 2023, 73% of students achieving a place at their first choice university and 68% going to a Russell Group university*. This is an incredible achievement, particularly given the highly competitive courses and institutions to which Tiffin Girls’ Sixth Formers apply. All students in the Sixth Form receive personalised support throughout the university entrance process, with a dedicated team of tutors and senior staff led by our UCAS & Higher Education Coordinator. Students can choose to study abroad, and we have had Tiffin girls studying at Lafayette, Harvard, Princeton, California Berkeley, New York and Washington State universities in the USA, Dalhousie University in Canada, Sciences Po in France, QMUL in Malta, and Groningen University in the Netherlands in recent years. Our students also go on to study at specialist higher education institutions outside the UCAS system for their chosen subject, such as Central St Martins for Art Foundation. A full list of our leavers’ destinations from the most recent UCAS cycle is available on this page.

* Russell Group: The Russell Group represents 24 leading UK universities which are committed to maintaining the very best research, an outstanding teaching and learning experience and unrivalled links with business and the public sector.

Wellbeing and Pastoral Care

Supporting our students’ wellbeing through high quality pastoral care is a priority in the Sixth Form. This provision is led by one of our Assistant Headteachers, who is also Deputy Head of the Sixth Form and works closely with the Head of Sixth Form. These staff are supported in their work by our Assistant Head of Sixth Form, our UCAS and Higher Education Coordinator, our Sixth Form Administrator and our team of 16 form tutors covering Year 12 and Year 13. The pastoral curriculum focuses on preparing students for their lives beyond school while ensuring support is in place during these two very important years. An extensive programme of outside speakers gives insight into wider society and future careers, providing our highly able young women with exceptional preparation for the next stage in their education and future employment.

The dedicated Sixth Form Centre, designed with student involvement, is situated in the heart of the school, providing both quiet study and social areas over two floors.
