Co-curricular

Drama

At The Tiffin Girls’ School students have the opportunity to join in with a range of co-curricular drama activities.

The Drama department offers a range of co-curricular activities, including our two school productions. Each year in January we produce a show which sees students across all year groups involved. We also produce a lower school production or showcase performances in the summer term, giving students in the lower years the opportunity to take on bigger roles and develop their skills. Both productions invite students to take on various roles within the theatre, from stage management, technical operations, actors, choreographers, directors, and costume designers.

When deciding on the productions, the Drama department explores a range of styles, from musicals to Shakespeare and Greek tragedies to contemporary plays. In recent years we have produced: Sweeney Todd, Dr Faustus, Six, The Grimm Tales, Arabian Nights, Annie Jr, Chicago, The Witches, The Trojan Women, and Romeo and Juliet. Students will be performing Alice as the summer lower school production for 2024.

Year 7 students can join the Year 7 Drama club. This club offers the opportunity for students to make friends, build confidence and produce their own production. Year 8 and 9 students have the opportunity to run their own Drama club. In recent years students have created musical theatre club and the drama experimental club. Year 9 and 10 students volunteer through the Duke of Edinburgh award with the Drama department, taking on roles of responsibility, such as helping to keep the costume and props department organised. Students can also apply to be in our technical team and are given detailed training in how to use the lighting desk.

KS4&5 are invited to our super-curricular club which looks into how theatre and other professional sectors combine, for example: Economics, politics, History, and Law.
