Parent Staff Association (PSA)
We are a vibrant community of parents dedicated to organising enjoyable fundraising events. Joining our group of volunteers is a great way to meet other parents, and to feel part of the school community.
The three core aims of the PSA are:
- Community and Belonging – to cultivate a strong sense of community among parents
- Bridging and Activation – to serve as a vital link between the school and the parents
- Funding – to support the students by providing additional resources not funded elsewhere
All parents are automatically members of the PSA while they have a child at the school. Classlist (an online school community app) is the PSA’s main communication channel with parents and is also how we sell tickets to our events. We recommend that all parents sign up to Classlist as soon as possible.
We continuously seek new ideas and welcome enthusiastic volunteers to join us. Each form is represented by a volunteer who helps communicate updates and opportunities to parents of students in that form.
As a Registered Charity (No. 285731), the PSA holds an AGM every September to which all parents are invited. In addition, any parent may also attend the Committee meetings which are held every half-term to observe and contribute from the floor. Most of our meetings are virtual to make it easier for everyone to attend.
Events
Popular annual events include a quiz night, the Christmas Fair, fashion show, and a celebration event for the school’s birthday. School birthday events have included a bingo night, a Ceilidh and a murder mystery dinner. We also support the students’ celebration and sports awards evenings, and run nearly-new and pre-loved uniform sales. The first of these uniform sales is held on the Year 6 induction day in July for Year 6 parents (for Year 7 entry in September). More information on uniform sales can be found on the Uniform page.
Fundraising
The funds raised through our events have made a significant impact.
2025-26
In the autumn term, we were raising money to help the school resurface the all-weather astro pitch, which is nearing the end of its usable life. The cost of this is in the region of £300,000. However, due to the grant of £1.84m from the Department of Education for the school’s new boiler and heating distribution system and the need for the school to make a significant contribution (25% of the grant, £467,000), fundraising events from the spring term onwards are going towards the boiler appeal. Monies raised from events held in the autumn term for the astro pitch are being ringfenced for future use for this resurfacing project.
For more details on the boiler appeal and how to make a donation, please visit the Fundraising and Donations page.
Previous years
In 2024-25, £15000 was donated to the refurbishment of the upstairs PE changing rooms and LED lighting in classrooms and corridors.
In 2023-24, £23500 was donated to the refurbishment of PE changing rooms, safety equipment for the trampoline club, and enhancements for the STEM club.
