The LRC is designed to provide for the students a quiet, comfortable and safe area suitable for effective study or quiet, independent reading.

The LRC is housed in the ground floor Holdsworth wing at the heart of the school and reopened in its new location in October 2016. The collection of approximately 6,500 books and other physical resources offer factual information to supplement the curriculum, revision and study resources, careers information, and general knowledge and reference material, including newspapers and magazines. Material in all major examination subjects is continually updated and we welcome suggestions from students and staff to ensure we are as up-to-date as possible. The fiction section provides a varied combination of core texts, holiday reads, classic fiction and student favourites.

PCs are available for students to use for study purposes while in the LRC. The school has a subscription to JSTOR, a digital library of academic journals, books and primary sources, to which all staff and students have access.

There are inductions for Year 7 and Year 12 students to teach them how the LRC functions and to encourage them to use it. Student helpers are trained in all aspects of working in a library and provide invaluable support during busy periods.
